We are thrilled to share an update on our recent trip to Labrador, where we took significant steps forward on the Cartwright Wind Project. James Griffiths, Director of Development, was joined by Gavin Jackson from Green Cat Renewables, and together we engaged with local leaders, presented our vision, and conducted key site visits.

The journey began with our attendance and presentation at the Nunacor Energy Forum. This was an invaluable opportunity to connect with key stakeholders, share our preliminary findings, and reinforce our commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions in the region.

Following the forum, our focus shifted to Cartwright, the hub of our proposed wind development. We were honoured to conduct a site visit to prospective candidate locations alongside the Mayor. This hands-on tour was crucial for understanding the local landscape and ensuring our project aligns with community needs and priorities. Additionally, we toured the port facilities in Cartwright, assessing the logistical requirements for future development phases.

Our trip included a stop in Mary’s Harbour, where we toured an existing solar farm and small hydro facility. While these projects demonstrate what’s technically possible in Labrador, they also highlight a broader opportunity: the need for more Indigenous-owned and Indigenous-led renewable energy infrastructure in the region. This reinforces the importance of our collaborative approach in Cartwright—working directly with communities to build projects that support local ownership, local capacity, and long-term energy sovereignty.

We are excited to announce that we have now officially completed our Feasibility Study for the Cartwright wind project. This marks a major milestone for Northern Energy Capital. The study confirms the project’s strong potential, and we are now moving on to the crucial next steps in the development process.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to advance this exciting project that promises to bring clean energy and economic opportunity to Labrador.
