Two years ago, Northern Energy Capital (NEC) proudly joined Canada's Net-Zero Challenge, committing to create and implement a credible plan to transition our operations to net-zero emissions by 2050. Over the past 24 months, we have taken significant steps to assess, refine, and advance our sustainability roadmap.
Following the release of our Preliminary Net-Zero Plan in 2024, we are excited to announce the completion of our Comprehensive Net-Zero Plan (2025), a detailed blueprint for achieving deep emissions reductions in our operations while supporting clean energy innovation in the North.

What's in Our Comprehensive Net-Zero Plan?
Our plan is an action-oriented strategy that focuses on:
Energy efficiency and renewable energy
Sustainable procurement
Waste reduction and circular economy
IT optimization
Employee engagement and culture
Offsetting residual emissions
We have also updated our interim emission reduction targets and milestones:

Short-term (2027): Reduce total emissions by 15% below 2023 baseline
Medium-term (2030): Reduce total emissions by 25% below 2023 baseline
Long-term (2050): Achieve net-zero emissions across all scopes
